Piano Guys in Mexico

Nadia was able to get AMAZING free tickets to see the Piano Guys here in Mexico City and I was lucky enough to get to come with her.  It was such a fun show!

Teotihuacan

We went out to the pyramids at Teotihuacan.  They are incredible!  Definitely a must see if you are ever near Mexico City.  Presidente Tovar (a stake president and archeologist) gave us a fantastic tour with tons of history.

Milk........the Real Deal

I went to Costco this morning.  It's EXACTLY the same as in the states (except everything is in Spanish).  But same layout, same brands, same delicious rolls. Best thing? They even sell milk.

Update

Sorry to be so bad lately in keeping this blog updated.  There has been so much to do that I've been pretty busy.  We now have all the coordinators from Provo here so the full-time staff is complete.  Every week about 8 teachers come from Provo to help cover the districts.  In just two weeks we are already up to about 200 north american missionaries and about 120 latin missionaries.  And every week we will get about 100 more.  By mid-August there will be over 800 missionaries on the campus.  We are all running around like crazy making sure we have enough teachers, buildings set up, dorm rooms, food, schedules, etc.  It's been a crazy/fun ride.  The weather has been pretty cool lately-low 70's in the day, 50's at night with rain almost every evening.  The missionaries are doing great and are working so hard.  There have been a lot of little bumps along the way, but I don't think the missionaries are ever aware of them.  The staff is so incredible here.

El centro

We went to the centro today to look around a bit.  Highlights were the Catedral Nacional y el Palacio de Bellas Artes.  We also ate some yummy food at Los Chilangos.  

First Day Welcome

Everything was a buzz today with the first group of missionaries to enter the CCM at the former Benemerito.  Next week will probably be the same with the first group of North Americans coming to this campus.  There was media from all different departments here.  Here's the story from LDS Newsroom. Overall the day went pretty smoothly.  Campus will probably be a little crazy for a while because technically Benemerito will still be open through August so students can come get their records, etc. as they transfer to new schools.

Today was the last day of the CCM at the temple and we didn't waste anytime in making the change.

The Big Move

We move up to the new campus next week. I'm excited.  We've got 90 acres of land, big classrooms, and a beautiful atmosphere.  I am going miss waking up to this beautiful temple.

Missionary Update

The North American missionaries just hit their half-way mark (3 weeks).  It's crazy because it feels like they've been here for so long.  It probably feels that way because I see them all day, every day.  I'm used to supervising 40+ teachers and 15 districts of missionaries.  Not to mention adding on meetings, committees, etc. So to be here, working with 10 teachers and 2 districts, it's a bit different.  (Of course, that will all change in a month when we start getting around 100 North Americans every week).  It's been awesome to see how much the interaction between these missionaries and the native missionaries helps them progress.  Many of them came in not being able to speak much at all, and in just 3 weeks they are carrying on pretty good conversations.  I can't wait to see where they are at the end of the next 3 weeks when they leave.  For the TRC, some of the teachers starting inviting their non-member friends.  This started last week.  One guy that came last week came back today and said he feels something so strong when he is here with the missionaries.  A teacher pointed out that it's the Spirit and then in passing said he will need to invite all of us to his baptism.  He got really excited and said he would want that.  The missionaries were so excited to hear that he had said that.  Miracles are already happening here.  Elder Johnson spoke at the devotional this week along with his wife (they have been living in Mexico this time around for about 5 years now).  What a great couple.  They taught about how the Spirit is the teacher, not the missionaries and all they need to do is be obedient, have desires, and submit to God's will and the Spirit will do the rest.  I am so happy here.  It's amazing how from the very first day I felt at home.  Everyone is taking care of me.  It's a special place to be.  The staff is incredible.  They are so inspired and work so hard to give the missionaries their best.  I'm learning a lot from them.
